Conflict

Conflict is like water to a fishes life. Conflict is needed since it is the foundation of every film.  Take for example, Snow White and the Seven Drawfs.  Although it is considered a childhood bedtime story film it's conflict has a deeper meaning. Perhaps many do not view the film in such manner but the tone of voice in the film of jealousy and all demonstrates the truths we face in society. Another example of a conflict is my personally experience I dealt with on my little brother's birthday last year.  Apparently the conflict of the story is that we forgot to buy a cake. It turns out that we all spoke of ordering a cake but we never actually bought one. Thankfully, we resulted the issue with ice cream. Although my only complaint was that it was cold weather but if it's between ice cream or nothing I will take my drumstick scoop.

My name is John Merrick

Beast! Creature! Is all I hear from those who pay to see my unfortunate soul.  I have no fault of who I am nor how I appear to look like.  Though I do take account of whom I have grown to become and that is sincerely not into a beast like those state I am.  I am a man, with a soul that was raised to be rejected by society or to entertain those who pay a ton for the horrifying view of my disability.  Although that was then and today is now.  Today is the day that I will be seen as the man who I truly am.  To put all the tag names aside and be considered a decent resident of this city.  I will finally break free and become the person that I was meant to be.  The glory to the day when that were to occur for I am John Merrick.

Undeserved Misfortune

One of my all time favorite misfortunes would lead to one of Disney's classics, Lion King.  The director of the film demonstrates great grief and sorrow within the characters despite the fact that it was all animated.  Due to the scenes in which demonstrate Simba (son) and Mufasa's (father) relationship towards each other builds up our emotions throughout the story line.  Resulting into a tragic reaction from us, the audience, when Mufasa had fallen into a stampede of wildebeest and trampled to death in attempt to save his son.  In the grieving pain and mistaken belief that he was the reason for his father's death Simba also reflects the emotion of sympathy and regret to the audience.   Such misfortune connects with the audience in various ways as through those who lost a loved one or simply through the pain that others feel towards those who suffer.  This hardship truly portrays the concept of how misfortunes contribute to a film.

My Film Job

I personally would be interested in the job of being the storyboard artist and/or the casting director. Due to my interest of drawing i find that becoming the storyboard artist would enhance that given desire to express my talent.  I as well, would enjoy turning a directors creative ideas into concrete visual images to bring those thoughts to life.  Although,  i would enjoy to elaborate on my talent to draw i as well have an interest to playing role of the casting director.  Since i personally do not find interest in acting i do enjoy helping others express themselves through their role lines.

My Review... On The Elephant Man

The Elephant Man is a film of great film full with character and passion.  Obviously great time and detail was placed into the piece, which makes one as a human reflect on the deceiving truths that society hides.  Personally, John Merrick (the elephant man) has more knowledge, compassion, and gratitude that another human being could have.  In despite of his condition he did not show weakness.  He was a pure gentleman one of few who portray the true meaning of sincerity and humbleness.  Those, men who partied and disrespected their women to only have a one night stand were the ones to bully John Merrick.  Through my eyes I view it as if to now seem weak or scared they approached our “elephant man” and create a superior level for him or herself.  The true monster is not the one that has a different physical condition than others but those who have rotten soul for it is possible to change the physical view but not the internal.

Welcome to My Nightmare...

It all began this semester due to heavy assigned homework and lack of sleep.  One, night, the night before one of my projects was due it took me about till 2 a.m. to finish my assignment.  I, of course do not blame my teacher since I was the one in fault for procrastinating.  Believing that after a long day and night I was about to finally rest for at least three hours I was horribly mistaken.  At the beginning it seemed as if a normal day was being put to rest but in reality it became the contrary my body paralyzed yet, I was completely awake, consciously.  Couldn’t move or talk I was still as a stone. With no one to help me I would be yelling within. Yelling for my mom to move me actually for anyone to come and move me awake me from this nightmare. Finally finding a way to escape I realized I had only been “asleep” for 15 minutes. Now I know this is sleep paralysis, the feeling of being conscious but not being able to move. Never again will i procrastinate.

Compassionate Science

Science without compassion is like a seed without water.  It’s like being in the dark without a flashlight.  One need to set a goal and aim to achieve but, if in the end of the day it all just comes down to the big digit on the pay check then one needs to wake up and realize the key to success is missing, compassion.  Take for example those who are using technology to discover a cure for caner.  If those medical scientists didn’t obtain compassion then their interest to actually achieving a cure would be insignificant.  As long as they arrive at their work and act as if they were actually aiming for a successful discovery then their paycheck would gladly arrive in the mailbox.  I personally experienced the amazement of how compassion and technology join together to cure those in need.  I experienced a minor defect within my left leg as a child in which could be cured but through a surgery.  Yet, before any procedures could be made that involved a knife to my skin I had to use a special foot cast.  This cast would support and straighten my ankle to actually touch the floor correctly since my minor defect was that I would walk on tippy toes with my left foot.  Due to technology and its wonderful creations I may not be completely normal but after all was done it demonstrates to me that someone out there found the desire to take the time and improve my life with the compassionate use of science and technology that they had knowledge of.

The Future

The Future, a place to fear, technology now is already taking over the minds of the young and corrupting the world as it is.  Before we realize it within hundred years our decedents will suffer a world of chaos and the world know today will just be a distance memory.  California today is facing the worst drought ever and there is no sign of its retirement.  Within a hundred years what is known to be California will be only a stranded desert it will be the second runner up against the mighty savanna desert.  The ruins of Los Angeles will stand deserted by the people who fled its city in distress and anguished for what they were promised only lasted a few years.   Yet, throughout the country technology has over taken mankind.  What was once known to be a nation of freedom will turn into the mightiest imprisonment wasteland.  Now cameras rome every hall and our every action can be seen except for the privacy of our homes.  Yet, within the hundred years period all privacy will have vanished what the four walls of our household could obtain will no longer be.  Our thoughts and actions will be visible to the government.  The government will have total control and one will not be able to have a say on what goes or doesn’t. Those who we once called leaders will become our worst nightmares.  Civilization will no longer know the meaning of freedom.

One time I laughed really, really hard...

One time I laughed really, really hard…
It was when I had my first sleepover with my cousin, which resulted to be a horrible hilarious event.  It all began around midnight since of course sleepovers aren’t actually known for sleep.  The name given its self is ironic humor.  Well, eventually bored out of out minds yet, in denial to accept that we were tired and ready for the “day” to end we eventually headed of to the kitchen for late night snacks.  We, of course saw no harm in our action but since it was midnight it was a different story especially if it was our grandparents house.  Quiet as ever we entered the kitchen and ate all we could find possible and desirable.  Though throughout the entire whole entire time we believed we were being sneaky our grandfather was watching us amazed by our actions.  Instead of telling us the wrong doing in out actions he joined us in our “crime” and it was never spoken to my grandmother of such time. As we returned to our room we couldn’t believe what out grandfather had done laughing till we fell asleep

My Review on Modern Times

The famously known "silent" film, Modern Times by Charlie Chaplin is an inspiring picture.  Chaplin demonstrates the hardships that were occurring during the Great Depression in the United States.  His film sent the message of hope to those who could no longer go on.  He viewed the world in a different light.  He believed that as long as you can keep smiling then your opportunities will never perish.  One can give up yet, giving up will not achieve your desires.  Chaplin's famous character, the little tramp, is the main role of the film.  This character demonstrates that although you may come with nothing you eventually can receive it all.  Maybe not all the riches of the world yet, having some will be all you need.

My Thoughts on Bullying

Although there are tons of ways to deal and stop bullying it amazes me how till this day still, bullying is playing a major part of society.  The fact that a child is sent to a therapist to deal with his trauma does not mean that the problem has been resolved.  What about the individual doing the harm? How will counseling the victim change the ways of the other half?  Society knows what needs to be said and done to eliminate each bully one by one and have less people become victims of the cruel action.  Yet, here we still are acting bias about the situation that is clearly in front of our eyes.  The fact that all the blame is on the bully for the harm being done does not allow you to ignore that you as well are part of the equation.  To get the bully to stop their wrong doing they need to realize that their actions are not a good will.  One must bring this to consideration and bring it to the bully's attention.  Although here we as a great society ignoring the fact that we can do something to stop it.  Instead we send off the victim to a therapist and the solution to the problem is done.  One needs to start accessing the issue directly than indirectly.  If words are never put into action then all we speak is invalid and of no wealth.

My Favorite Movie

The Movie Forest Gump is an inspiring film that many can relate or learn from.  I personally viewed the film, as a motivating piece teaching me that no matter the situation I encounter all will play out fine in the end.  Challenges and obstacles that come and go throughout our lives only build us to become stronger and wiser. Throughout the film I realize that those issues I find to be impossible to over come is nothing bigger than anthills.  As Forest Gump demonstrates throughout the film his determination and his strong will power to do good I as well desire to help out those who need my help.  Perhaps, not through outstanding events as the film portrays but through small steps by listening to those who need to be heard out as for my cousin or my best friends.  This film not only shines positivity but it also demonstrated the truth behind the journey of life I for one do not view films with happily ever after endings as a thrill to watch.  In contrary I prefer those that portray the struggle one must face to get to their goal or achieve their desires.  Therefore, Forest Gump is one of  many films that i appreciate and consider as a favorite.
